ROBERT PATRICK BENNETT DUNPHY is the second generation of a viticultural family in Gibbston Valley, NZ. Growing up between the vines of Central Otago, he developed a keen palette and a keener curiosity at a young age. Before long he set off to Burgundy, France to sit with the pioneers of Pinot Noir and study their art.

Whilst totally consumed by the beauty of French oenology, he was frustrated by the traditions that impeded the creativity of their winemakers. Years later he returned to Central Otago, an area widely considered the only region in the world capable of producing fruit that could rival the prestige and elegance of a Burgundian Pinot, to share secrets locked away for centuries behind the oak cellar doors of Beaune, Volnay & Pommard.
